What a frickin' ray of light!*

I feel I owe my little readership a justification of this ten-day silence. It has nothing to do with my previous post, which was written in a moment of sheer anguish. I have been a bit busy with work and things, and my dead laptop at home is not making it any easier for me. I have wanted to blog about other moments of sheer anguish in these silent days (I mean days of my silence; days are not silent/ noisy, are they?) - mainly about my crappy Excel skills, my horrific Maths, and a sudden inability to put my foot down on some trying matters at work.

As exhausting as some sections of my life have been, I am happy to report zero downtime in my kitchenly activities. I have been cooking things (like fish) for the first time in a very long while to my satisfaction (A stuffed husband is always a good sign despite the health hazard). Unfortunately, this means, I'm required to cook on a daily basis to feed the hungry (read gluttons, the self included). Perhaps I should start hiding portions of food away before the bottomless foodpit sets sight on them, and then keep reminding myself that Christmas is coming, the geese and I are getting fat.

On to happier things.. I am reading a book called The Sugar Queen by a not-so-popular (I think) author. This book was recommended by my niece (who is 12), and it's quite a nice book actually even if some of the stuff is a bit too OTT for my liking. I am, however, very concerned about the amount of direct references to sex in this book. It did appear that her mother read it first to check if the book was OK for a 12 year old to read though.. or perhaps the 12 year old read it first to check if it was OK for her mother to read? It would probably offend my cousin if I asked..
