Woke up and smelled the Coffee

I have made myself a hot cup of coffee. Most people would consider my coffee warm, but my tongue is very sensitive to heat. Therefore, for me - I have made myself a hot cup of coffee.

I quite like the idea of waking up and smelling the coffee.. I guess I have used this as a post title a dozen times (in several tenses) in the good old days when I was forever waking up and smelling the coffee. However, I realized just a few seconds ago, that in one particular variation, I believe I might have woken up and smelt the Coffee..

Hmm, I have made myself a hot cup of coffee

OR is it:

I have made myself a cup of hot coffee

?

I have finished it off, nonetheless
