The koala has been my favourite animal ever since I've known I ought to have a favourite animal (not that any one of its kind would give a fig or a eucalyptus leaf). This suddenly changed a few weeks ago, when I came across the quokka on my Twitter timeline. The "happiest animal in the world", it seems. One doesn't need a caption to know this; I mean, just look at that face!
Or look at this one here. I wish I looked half as cute while asleep. But no.. kohl and a terrible memory are largely responsible for me looking like this as I lay dead to the world. That's not so bad if you're a panda, I suppose, but I'm not.
Now this quokka looks part koala, part dog, part cat, part fox; in fact, the more pictures I look at, the more it resembles every animal I know. With a favourite animal like this one, who needs any other animal? Come to think of it, Fatty looks like a quokka when he's asleep and also about 75% of the time that he's awake.
But move over, Fatty, the quokka is the original sukhi praani! I've never wanted a pet koala, but I truly, madly, deeply want a pet quokka. I really really want one..
Actually, here's another sukhi praani, but it's probably not a good idea to have one in that size bounding up to you.
