"Don't just add to the cacophony, listen."

.. says my dear friend, Aditi. Another context, but extremely well said :)

It's kinda nice that this post has been sitting in it's draft form since over two months, because I remember admonishing Aditi (the very same from whom I've borrowed this title) for leaving one of her posts in the draft form for months... I, basically, pointed a virtual (since we're in two different nations altogether) finger at her when three real fingers (and a thumb even) were all pointing back at me. Also, at the time I had completely missed the bigger picture, which is the fact that she actually completed the post.. eventually! So here's a very loud 'yay!' for all the different ways in which we're able to learn the lessons of life :)

Anyway, the reason this sentence (the title..) appealed to me so much was that there are so many times I have strived to do so much on my own.. perhaps I've been under the delusion that I am the best, or I know what's best for the self (and people around me too!). Lately, I have had the opportunity of witnessing that there's pride even in humility! And this kind of pride is very difficult to deal with; it is the naak-mein-dum kind of pride, which really needs a huge crushing incident to bring it down to its knees. But the good news is that once this happens and one stops adding to the cacophony, they will start to listen :)
