How did I get to be so forgetful?

Is my brain becoming porous?! I am so ashamed of my memory, and to think that it used to be my pride and joy once upon a time makes it a massive cause for worry now. I know I'm getting old, but hey, I've just turned 27! And suddenly I find everyone (in my generation) comparing my memory to somebody or the other's Mum or Dad! It is not a very happening thing..

I've read that your dead brain cells fall out of your ears when you run/ jog. Does that mean my living brain cells fall out of my ears because I don't run/ jog? [Absolutely foolish thought, that one, but I'm desparate to find a logical and biologic explanation!]

I write everything down or set phone reminders just to get through the day without frustrating myself much.. Already I have been termed (wrongly even in this context) as Ghajini (FYI: It should've been Short-term-memory-loss-afflicted-Sanjay-Singhania-in-the-movie-"Ghajini", but that takes an age and a half to say)

Gee, it is a mighty frightening thought to slowly turn memory-less! Should I take solace in thinking that my brain is saturated with memories already? Well, that has led to a sudden unpleasant thought that my brain is perhaps smaller than those of others. Also, I can't really remember stuff that happened in my younger days either. For e.g. when I recently visited Sharon in Glasgow, there were places and people she named from a distant past that I just could not picture. My mind felt like a clean slate.. I had to stop trying when my imagination started running wild.

What will I be like when I turn 60? Or 45 even! I have started working on my appearance now as some sort of a cheap consolation.
