All Star Family Fortunes

I watched the filming of All Star Family Fortunes on Thursday. A bunch of us from work were invited as VIPs (Guests of Production, to be precise). Read this for background information.

Vernon Kay is hotter than his pictures do him justice, by the way! However, he is incredibly skinny and at the same time he is incredibly tall.

I realised half way through the show that the Lynches were actually Shane Lynch (of the Boyzone fame) and fly. Actually, I realised only because Vernon accidentally said Westlife and then corrected himself. I used to dig these guys decades ago (and I'm not afraid to admit it..) Also in the team were his two sisters who were also part of a girl band (I've forgotten what they were called though). The other team were the Henshalls - Gloria Henshall and fly. They won.

There was this question: Name something that people do in their sleep. Gloria's sister said fart (really loudly). Vernon did some tutting. At the end of the round, it turned out that Flatulence was actually one of the answers. Hmm.. Well, they had to retake the entire round.

The show was nothing like I expected it to be actually. I thought that it would be a) boring and b) entirely scripted. It was certainly not boring! Vernon Kay makes women drool even when he's swearing =) It was evident that the answers weren't scripted either =) I learnt that when contestants get sent to a 'booth', they are actually sent to the bathroom, I kid you not! The booth recording is then done at the end of the show right there on the very same set with the contestant head bobbing to nothing in particular. Talk about working smart and cost cutting! All in all, a great show.

My only disappointment was that during the after show party, Vernon came just for a second to click a picture with the team. And I missed him because I was at the bar trying to get the bartender to understand what I was saying.. I mean, honestly! He was just serving Beer, White wine, Red wine and Rose. I had to practically yell at him, and then when I turned around, there was a click of Marta's camera and Vernon disappeared before the idiot bartender finished pouring my Rose :(
