Yesterday, the O2 dome in London hosted a concert where a bunch of Bollywood biggies came and shook a leg. Amongst them were Ritesh Deshmukh, Preity Zinta, Abhishek Bachhan, Aishwariya Rai - Bacchan, Amitabh Bachhan, Vishal - Shekhar and Shilpa Shetty. And then there was Jaya Bachhan who was around to lend the family moral support (as always) and came up on the stage to tell us why we should save electricity. Honestly, I'd've been more enthu about the subject, and I'd've attempted to memorize at least some parts of the speech. Having said that, I am aware that I'm not a celebrity.
Anyway, a gist of the performances:
- Ritesh Deshmukh made me drool (slightly)
- Zinta can't dance for peanuts, but she has one helluva dress designer!
- Abhishek was cheesy in a really cheesy sort of way
- AR-B: The least said, the better... However, it was funny to see her covered from head to foot dancing to Kajre re. Also, she has mercifully put on some weight and is looking nice (from afar). She was nauseatingly giddyheaded, nonetheless.
- Big B was the legend for the evening. He looked as waxy as his statue at Madame Tussauds, I kid you not! I wonder why his overly lengthy introduction didn't include the million adverts he's done over his very long (indeed) acting career. His dialogue delivery, however, was super-excellent.
- Vishal - Shekhar, I LOVED YOU BOTH! You totally rocked the night.
- Shilpa Shetty: "UK's favourite girl". Not.
I had a whale of a time at the concert and am grateful that Sharula's invitation was extended to include me :)
